Bæjarins beztu pylsur, translated as “the best hotdog in town” is certainly the original and the best. In 2006 the UK’s the guardian chose it as the best hot dog in Europe. This lil’ hot dog stand by the water is also famous for Bill Clinton’s visits (don’t forget he visited twice!) and reminded us of Harry’s Cafe de Wheels on a smaller scale. In a town where food is pricey, the 300ISK pricetag (around $3.00 AUD) is a steal. We ordered two with the lot which includes tomato sauce, sweet mustard, fried onion, raw onion and remolaði, a mayonnaise-based sauce with sweet relish, let them rest in the specially shaped wooden stands long enough to take a photo then gulped them down. yum!Click on any of the thumbnails below to view the images full size.
