Here’s one for all the serious architecture lover’s out there. Otherwise translated as Reykjavik’s City Hall – we visited the building on the advice of our Harpa tour guide, Hörður. Sitting on the lake, surrounded by green stuff and ducks, the architecture is unassuming and peaceful. It is not a ‘wow’ building but something much more sublimely serene. Dark concrete, simple details, spilling with light. A huge 3D map of Iceland is housed in its innards. The architectural design is by Studio Granda, probably Iceland’s best architects – working to create simple, elegant insertions using the elements of Iceland’s natural beauty.Click on any of the thumbnails below to view the images full size.
